How It Works

  • Getting Started: Request Access to the Secure Portal

    To get started, email us or text us (+15706290500) to request access to your secure client portal. Once we receive your request, we’ll send you a link with your username so you can create your password and log in.

  • Sign In Email

    Once you have received your new portal account email, please take note of your username and click "Sign In".

  • Set Your Username and Password

    After clicking "Sign In", you will be brought to the password creation page. If you are an existing client, you can input the last 4 digits of the main tax filer's SSN and set your password. If you are a new client, you will type "0000" as the last 4 of your SSN and create a password. This will be updated on our end at a later point. After you have done this, click "Submit".

  • Logging In

    Once you have created your password, you will be redirected to the Sign In page, where you will need to enter your Username (from the email you received) and the password you just created in Step 2. Once you have entered this, press "Sign In" and you will be brought to your Secure File Pro page.

  • The Secure File Pro Home Page

    Now that you have successfully signed in, you will be brought to your Secure File Pro home page. Here you will be able to upload files, set up your profile, view your filing checklist, complete requested questionnaires, send messages, as well as complete signatures and payments. But in order to move forward, you will need to complete your profile with all relevant information.

  • Setting Up Your Profile

    Before doing anything else, please be sure to set up or update your profile regardless of whether or not you are a new or existing client. You can do this by clicking the “Profile” tab on the left side of your screen. Once here, please fill out all of the information relevant to you on this page. If anything is left blank, we will be unable to process your return.

  • Making Sure All Information is Complete

    Once you have filled out the top section of your profile, be sure that everything is completely filled out and accurate, as this information will be used to complete your tax preparation. If you are married, regardless of if you are filing joint or separate, be sure to complete the “Spouse” section with all relevant information. Additionally, be sure that your mailing address is up to date and accurate. If you moved during the year, be sure to make note of your previous address, new address, and date you moved by sending a message in the “Messenger” tab.

  • Dependents

    Scrolling down, you will find the “Dependents” section. If you do not have any dependents, you may skip this section and move on to Step 09. If you do have dependents, please fill in all of the information for each dependent in this section.

  • Adding Additional Dependents

    To add more than one dependent, click on the “+” button next to the first listed dependent in this section. This can be done to add as many dependents as are necessary.

  • Sending Documents Securely

    Once you have completely filled out your profile section, you are now ready to start uploading your tax documents. You can do this by going to the “Files” tab on the left side of the screen. Once there, you will see two sections: From Preparer and To Preparer . The From Preparer section is used for us to send you documents related to your tax preparation including your return, signature pages, or anything else you may need. The To Preparer Section is where you can send documents to us. We will need photos/scans of your state or federal ID (front and back), W2’s, 1099’s, and anything else related to your tax preparation.

  • Creating Folders

    To keep things organized from year-to-year or if you are adding documents for multiple people, you can add folders in this section by clicking the “Add Folder” button. Here you will then be able to give the folder a name and save it.

  • Uploading Documents

    Once you have created your folder, click into it and press the “upload” button near the bottom of your screen. When pressed, the file explorer will pop up. Here you can search for your document on your computer. Please ensure that documents are not password protected before sending them. After selecting a document, press “open”.

  • File Upload Completion

    You should now see the file name in the “Upload Files” popup. After it appears, you can continue to add more documents by pressing the “add” button, or hit “upload” to complete your selection.

  • Confirming Files Uploaded Successfully

    After loading to 100%, if your document uploaded successfully, you will now see the file name in the “To Preparer” section in the folder you created.

  • Sending Messages

    Once all of your questionnaires are complete, profile is filled out, and documents are uploaded, you can send a message to your tax preparer in the “Messenger” tab on the left side of your screen. Send us a message letting us know that everything is ready, or ask a question here.

  • Viewing Chats

    Once you hit the “send” button, your chat will appear in blue. You will see responses to your messages in this tab when you return to this page. Be sure to check frequently to ensure your tax preparation is done in a timely manner.

What to Bring (or Upload)

Although the required documents vary by client, here’s a helpful checklist of common items you may need. Every client will need:

  • Photo identification (driver’s license, passport, or government-issued ID)
  • Social Security cards for all filers and dependents
  • Bank routing and account number (for direct deposit or electronic payments)
